また、地球規模の課題として

に対しても、科学は不可欠です。

②社会科学（Social Sciences）

Science has long played a central role in addressing humankind’s challenges, from disease to environmental degradation. While science is an indispensable tool for progress, I believe it should not be relied upon alone to solve all of humanity’s problems.
First, the natural sciences have undeniably improved the quality of human life. Advances in agricultural technology, such as improved breeding techniques, have helped reduce hunger, while medical innovations have enabled societies to combat infectious diseases. In addition, renewable energy technologies and methods for measuring greenhouse gas emissions are essential in addressing climate change and biodiversity loss. These examples demonstrate that natural science provides reliable and practical solutions to many global issues.
However, scientific knowledge alone cannot resolve complex social and ethical problems. Issues such as poverty and inequality are deeply rooted in social systems and patterns of resource distribution. Social sciences are therefore crucial in designing effective policies. For example, research in education and economics has guided policies that introduce artificial intelligence into classrooms in order to reduce inequality. Without appropriate political frameworks, even accurate scientific data fails to produce real change.
Finally, the humanities play a vital role in shaping human values and ethical judgment. Advances in AI and genetic engineering raise serious moral questions that science alone cannot answer. Moreover, peacebuilding efforts under the Sustainable Development Goals show that cultural understanding fostered through literature and film is essential for reconciliation.
In conclusion, science is a powerful but incomplete solution. Only a holistic approach that integrates natural sciences, social sciences, and the humanities can lead to sustainable and ethical solutions to humankind’s problems.
